October 29 Event Offers One-on-One Conversations—No Speeches, Scripts, or Preapproved Questions

AUBURN, Maine — Republican gubernatorial candidate Bobby Charles is inviting Maine voters to sit across from him, ask tough questions, and challenge his positions during a free event Thursday, October 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Androscoggin County GOP Headquarters in the Auburn Mall.

The format is simple: Charles at a table, an empty chair across from him, and one-on-one conversations about the issues voters want to discuss. No speeches. No scripts. No preapproved questions.

“I’m inviting people who disagree with me to sit across from me and ask anything,” Charles said in his invitation. “You can tell me I’m wrong. To my face.”

The Empty Chair Is for You

‍

Charles especially welcomes people who do not support him. His invitation names Hannah Pingree supporters, Kamala Harris voters, Gen Z liberals, frustrated Democrats, undecided independents, and Somali immigrants. Whatever their background or political beliefs, voters are welcome to bring their questions.

“If you think I’m wrong about something, tell me. If you’re skeptical of my plans, challenge me. If there’s an issue you think I’m overlooking, let’s talk about it,” Charles wrote.

‍

Charles’ priorities include cutting crime and taxes, lowering energy costs, strengthening schools, and demanding accountability in Augusta. This event gives voters an opportunity to question those plans directly—and raise concerns of their own.

No admission fee, ticket, or advance registration is required. Charles will hold as many one-on-one conversations as time allows. Voters are encouraged to share the invitation with someone who would welcome the opportunity to ask a tough question.
