AUBURN, ME — Bobby Charles, leading Republican candidate for Governor of Maine, will debate anti-ICE Democrat Troy Jackson on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 6:30 PM in Auburn. The debate will be moderated by Carroll Conley and Andy O’Brien.
“In Maine, you either back law enforcement and defend our communities, or you stand with the radicals who make excuses for criminals and fight to protect criminal illegal immigrants while attacking ICE,” said former Naval Intelligence Officer Bobby Charles. “Radical Leftist Troy Jackson has spent his career doing exactly that. He wants to abolish ICE, embraces soft-on-crime policies that shield illegal immigrants, and has helped create the conditions for more crime, higher costs, and more chaos for Maine taxpayers. On February 25, I’m going to look him in the eye and make him answer for it.”
Charles said the debate will put two competing visions for Maine in front of voters: restoring public safety, supporting law enforcement, and putting Maine citizens first versus the soft-on-crime Augusta Democrat agenda that has rewarded criminals and punished working Mainers with higher costs.
“This isn’t complicated,” Charles continued. “Maine families want safe streets, affordable living, and leaders who don’t surrender control to criminals, cartels, and radical activists. I’m running to cut crime, cut taxes and put Mainers first.”
